4Movimento is a leading dance school for professional dancer training, which, thanks to its long-standing history and its focus on new developments in dance disciplines, is able to offer its students a high-level training pathway.

The Birth of the Dance School

The story of 4Movimento, now a leading school for professional dancer training in Sarzana, began in 1989, when Maestro Bryan Poer left the town to return to Milan.

    To fill this gap, his students Giuseppe Gilardi and Lucia Boschi decided to create their own school, receiving the allocation of a space within the Multi-purpose Centre located in the former Fruit and Vegetable Market.


    Once the renovation work was completed, the project was able to come to life, eventually becoming the point of reference for future dancers in the province of La Spezia as we know it today.

A Point of Reference for Future Dancers

The inauguration of 4Movimento took place in Sarzana on 1st October 1990, in the presence of the then mayor, Lorenzo Forceri, and the Councillor for Culture, Prof. Mario Grassi, with the participation of many dancers—all within the beautiful setting of an exhibition by photographer Fabio Gianardi, dedicated to Pina Bausch.
